Heartbreaking GH News: Ryan Paevey BREAKS SILENCE on Cassius’ Death!
General Hospital fans were correct when they predicted that there was more to Cassius Faison’s story than Z was letting on last week and the character was actually alive.
Z visited Cassius in a secret hospital room where he offered the former criminal a job. And that was Ryan Paevey‘s last moment on the soap he has called home on and off since 2014 … for now.
Ryan Paevey Leaves General Hospital Again
Although Cassius was revealed to be a little worse for wear, but still alive and well, GH executive producer Frank Valentini confirms Paevey’s latest exit, but with a caveat.
“Ryan’s return was always planned as a short-term arc…He did incredible work, and we loved having him back,” Valentini said in an interview with TV Insider, before adding, “The door is always open for him to return.”
Indeed, that is how the story unfolded. Although Cassius arrived on the Port Charles scene last fall to impersonate his dead twin brother, Nathan West, while working for the bad guys, he went rogue last week and tried to stop them.
After attempting to save Josslyn (Eden McCoy) after she was shot on the Spoon Island loading dock, Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) caught him and shot him.
Josslyn managed to shoot Cullum just before John Oliver‘s Z arrived for his guest appearance. He brought Josslyn to safety, but sadly informed her that Cassius didn’t make it. News of Cassius’ death spread throughout Port Charles on July 6, but then Z paid Cassius a visit.
He told Cassius that he’d be going to prison for a long time and might even get the death penalty … unless he came to work for the WSB.
When Paevey returned to GH last year, fans were led to believe he was Nathan, with a seven-year gap in his memory and history. By March, Nathan was revealed to be Cassius, whom Paevey knew he was playing all along.
“This character is not the strait-laced nice guy, which opens up a whole new slew of activities and things to play with, which sounded like a lot more fun,” Paevey said.
With Z offering Cassius a job, the possibilities for more story are endless sometime down the line. If Paevey does opt to return to the PC scene one day, would a romance with Josslyn be on the agenda?
