Bold and the Beautiful Comings and Goings: Soap Vet Debuts in New Role
The Bold and the Beautiful is welcoming a familiar face from the daytime world, and longtime soap fans are likely to recognize her immediately. Kelly Sullivan, a veteran actress with memorable roles on both General Hospital and The Young and the Restless, is joining the CBS soap in a brand-new role.
Sullivan will make her debut as Darcy Dylan on Thursday, August 27. The character is the mother of Dylan, played by Sydney Bullock. Viewers already know Dylan as Melissa Dylan, although she typically uses her surname instead of her first name.
The arrival of Darcy could add another important layer to Dylan’s story. Bringing a character’s parent into the canvas often opens the door to new family history, unresolved conflicts and previously unknown secrets. For Dylan, having her mother suddenly appear could potentially change the way viewers understand her past and motivations.
Naturally, Kelly Sullivan’s casting has also generated plenty of excitement among longtime soap fans. The actress is no stranger to playing complicated characters. She previously portrayed Kate Howard and Connie Falconeri on General Hospital from 2011 to 2014. Her performance earned her a strong following during one of the soap’s most memorable periods.
After leaving Port Charles, Sullivan moved to Genoa City, where she played Sage Warner on The Young and the Restless from 2014 through 2016. That role gave Sullivan another opportunity to showcase her dramatic range, particularly through emotional and complicated storylines.
Her work on Y&R was recognized by the Daytime Emmy Awards. Sullivan received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2017, further establishing her reputation as one of daytime television’s experienced performers.
Now, she is entering a new chapter with The Bold and the Beautiful. Although details about Darcy Dylan’s storyline remain limited, the fact that she is being introduced as Dylan’s mother immediately makes her arrival worth watching.
But Kelly Sullivan is not the only familiar face returning to the canvas this week.
Sincere Cato is also back as Alex, the supervisor and bartender at the Bikini Bar. Cato is scheduled to appear on Monday, August 24.
Alex may not be one of the show’s central characters, but the Bikini Bar frequently serves as a place where characters cross paths, exchange information and occasionally find themselves caught in unexpected drama. His return could therefore provide another opportunity for smaller storylines to develop or for important conversations to take place away from the Forrester and Logan homes.
With Kelly Sullivan joining the cast as a character directly connected to Dylan and Sincere Cato returning as Alex, The Bold and the Beautiful is giving viewers several familiar faces to look forward to during the week of August 24–28.
The biggest mystery remains what Darcy Dylan wants — and whether her arrival will uncover secrets about her daughter that Dylan would rather keep hidden.
