Bowens joined Days of Our Lives in 2021, replacing Precious Way, who originally portrayed Chanel. Since then, Bowens has made the character her own, becoming closely associated with Chanel’s complicated relationship with Johnny DiMera and her connection to Paulina Price.

Her departure was announced in January 2026 as part of a major cast shake-up. Along with Bowens, Carson Boatman, Leo Howard and Ashley Puzemis were also let go from their contract roles. The news came as a major surprise because Johnny and Chanel had remained an important couple on the show.

For Raven Bowens, her exit marks the end of an important chapter. During her time on Days, she helped transform Chanel from a relatively new character into a major part of Salem’s younger generation. Her chemistry with Carson Boatman became particularly popular with fans, with their pairing earning the nickname “Janel.”
