Bradford Anderson Left General Hospital With Kirsten Storms – What Happened!
After nearly two decades in Port Charles, Damian Spinelli has officially left town with Maxie Jones and their children.
Unlike many dramatic departures on General Hospital, Spinelli’s exit did not involve a shocking death, a huge betrayal, or a dramatic season-ending cliffhanger. Instead, the beloved character quietly packed his bags and moved to Australia with his family.
But the real reason behind Spinelli’s departure has much more to do with real life than fiction.
Bradford Anderson first debuted as Damian Spinelli in 2006. What began as a quirky hacker role alongside Jason Morgan quickly developed into one of the most memorable supporting characters on the show.
Spinelli’s romance with Maxie Jones, portrayed by Kirsten Storms, eventually became one of the most popular pairings among longtime viewers. Fans affectionately called the couple “Spixie.”
However, Anderson had already been working in a recurring capacity since 2013, appearing whenever the storyline required Spinelli. His latest exit appears to be closely connected to changes in Storms’ real-life circumstances.
Storms had been dealing with personal and health challenges and eventually relocated from Los Angeles to Tennessee in 2025. Because General Hospital is filmed in Los Angeles, returning regularly became increasingly difficult. The show temporarily wrote Maxie out through a coma storyline while Storms focused on her health and family.
She briefly returned in February 2026, when Maxie awakened and found herself caught up in another shocking storyline involving her presumed-dead husband, Nathan West. However, the comeback was short-lived, and Maxie soon disappeared from Port Charles again.
By June 2026, Storms explained to fans that, given everything happening in her life, she was not comfortable returning to Los Angeles to resume filming. That left the writers with a major decision: recast Maxie or find a permanent way to write her out.
The show ultimately chose the latter.
On the July 23, 2026 episode, viewers learned that Maxie had sold her shares in Deception Cosmetics to Michael Corinthos. Soon afterward, Cody revealed that Spinelli had accepted an important job opportunity in Australia. The entire family would relocate together, giving Maxie, Spinelli, James, Georgie, and baby Bailey Lou a fresh start far away from Port Charles.
For fans, the exit was emotional because Spinelli was not written out because of a dramatic firing or character death. Instead, his departure was essentially a consequence of Maxie’s storyline and Storms’ real-life situation.
Anderson himself has made it clear that he would like to have more screen time. Since Spinelli was not killed off, his return remains entirely possible.
With his strong connections to Jason Morgan, Carly Spencer, and the rest of Port Charles, Spinelli could easily find a reason to come home someday.
For now, Australia may be Spinelli and Maxie’s new home—but this could simply be another chapter rather than the final page of their General Hospital story.
