The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Monday, September 7, indicate that Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) attempt to protect Marie Kirkland (Jade Harlow) won’t go according to plan.

At the rehab clinic where Logan Kirkland (Tommy Walker) just died, Nick will act like Marie wasn’t even in the room when it happened.

Instead, Nick will lie that Logan attacked him over a close moment with Marie and that he defended himself.

Although Nick will play up Logan’s fall as a tragic accident, he’ll still be on the hot seat with a police officer.

Marie will eventually shut down Nick’s lies and come clean about being the one to push Logan instead.

Marie will thank Nick for trying to be a good friend, but she’ll insist this is something she has to handle herself.

Even so, Nick will at least want to get Marie a lawyer, so he’ll urge her to do whatever Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) says.

Once Marie agrees to head down to the GCPD for more questions, Nick will worry about her recovery getting derailed over all this.

At the Riverbank Motel, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) will arrive later than their meetup time, but she’ll make up it up to Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) with their giggling, passionate encounter.

Between the noise level and the thin walls, it won’t take long for Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) to notice they’ve got some fun-loving neighbors.

On Monday’s Y&R episode, Phyllis and Matt will eventually get down to the business of figuring out some fake danger for Sharon Newman (Sharon Case).

After Phyllis toys around with the idea of an exploding coffee machine, Matt will think maybe he could save her from a speeding bus.

Phyllis won’t think they have time to wait for that and will keep mulling things over with Matt.

After Matt suggests an allergic reaction and antidote, Phyllis will nix that plan, too.

It’ll be too reminiscent of what went down when Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) caused Summer Newman’s (last played by Allison Lanier) own allergic reaction as a child.

Matt will realize he should’ve remembered that story and anticipated Phyllis’ reaction, so he’ll be sorry about that.

Phyllis won’t hold it against Matt and will ultimately step outside for a phone call with Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman).

Back with Victoria, she’ll push Kyle to agree that their little fling has to stop right here, right now.

Victoria will exit and hear Phyllis’ voice nearby, so she’ll hide behind a housekeeping cart and just barely avoid exposure.

Victoria will manage to sneak back in the motel room with Kyle, so she’ll fill him in on what happened soon after.

Kyle and Victoria will consider the mystery of why Phyllis is at the Riverbank Motel.

At Nate Hastings’ (Sean Dominic) penthouse, he’ll assure Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A. Fox) that there’s no need to stick around.

The fact that Stephanie drove Nate home after his procedure will be more than enough.

Stephanie will argue that doctors make the worst patients and will want to make sure he doesn’t overdo it while he’s in recovery mode.

Nate will kid around with Stephanie about the things he can’t do while his hand is healing.

After Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and Devon Winters (Bryton James) check on Nate following his surgery,

Stephanie will make an excuse to leave. Devon and Lily will hope Nate gets good news regarding his hand since he really wants to get back in the OR.

Once Lily and Devon leave, Stephanie will show back up with a to-go meal for Nate, who’ll steal a smooch as they prepare to watch the video of his procedure.

In Tahiti, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will suffer a centipede bite on his foot, but Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) will dote on him after a doctor examines him.

Despite all the odd setbacks that have happened on this trip, Diane and Jack will acknowledge that they’ve had a good time together.
