Young & Restless’ Cruel Twist of Fate for Sally Will Leave Her Forever Changed

Young & Restless left fans reeling after Sally doubled over with abdominal pain in Tuesday’s episode, and the cliffhanger had Billy on the phone calling for emergency help. Is Sally about to miscarry?!

Exasperated from trying to talk an obsessed Billy out of confronting Jill over Chancellor’s secret, Sally got up from the Club bar to grab a juice and instantly cried out in pain, clutching the wooden edge for support. Billy was rendered momentarily speechless as his very pregnant fiancee alerted, “Something is wrong!”

We were all on tenterhooks as he guided her over to a chair in the dining room, as we just knew that Sally had to have been thinking back to that horrible time when she lost her baby with Adam. “Surely,” we exclaimed in our minds collectively, “Young & Restless wouldn’t take yet another child from this poor woman!”

While not everyone is thrilled about Sally having a baby with the ever-spiraling Billy Abbott, having her miscarry, most would agree, would be a cruel twist indeed for her character given the painful loss of Ava she’s already endured. So much so that the fear was palpable when she found out she was expecting again. As exasperating as Billy can be, it would be a brutal loss for him to bear as well, considering he suffered the loss of his daughter, Delia.

The question, then, is will Sally lose her baby… again? The good news is that all signs point to, “No.” Her pain was subsiding by the time Billy got her into a chair, which suggests it could simply be Braxton-Hicks contractions. More pointedly, spoilers have Audra sharing a secret with Sally on Wednesday, which all but confirms she and the baby are OK.

The bad news? No matter what happens, those terrifying moments in the Athletic Club, doubled-over in pain and fearing for her pregnancy all over again are absolutely going to take a toll. No woman goes through something so frightening twice and comes out the other end with anything less than type of anxiety that throws one into flight or fight at the slightest sign of stress. Best case scenario? She’ll wind up being the helicopter mom of a healthy Baby Abbott.

While keeping fingers and toes crossed for a positive outcome, lighten the load by taking a look at our often hilarous burning question from the past week in soaps in the gallery below.
