A momentous event is taking place at General Hospital.
In the beginning of June, General Hospital teased its upcoming 16,000th episode and the celebration around that. Now, ABC7’s On the Red Carpet had the behind-the-scenes scoop about the big occasion, airing July 13.
Veteran Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) shared:
I’ve been on the show 33 years; I’m 63 and this show is 63 years old. So it’s over half of my life that I’ve been here.
Lynn Herring (Lucy Coe) chimed in:
Every decade of my life, besides the teens, I’ve been here.
The next generation of Port Charles residents shared their appreciation for the show and its legacy, too. Tabyana Ali (Trina Robinson) added:
It’s a generational show; 16,000 is incredible. No other show has ever done that.
Since its debut, GH has become the longest-running scripted American drama and the longest-running American sudser currently in production. Aussie actor Dean Geyer, a newcomer, mused of the celebration:
