Let’s talk about that incredibly tense scene involving Michael Baldwin, Diane Jenkins Abbott, and Kyle. Honestly, are we really supposed to sit back and relax while the psychotic Dr. Lawrence Markham is out roaming the streets completely unaccounted for? I am utterly terrified for Diane right now.
What drives me crazy is the sheer incompetence of the Genoa City authorities and the absolute joke that is the Abbott family security. When Michael smugly assured Diane that she was completely safe because the “Abbott security team is on high alert” , I wanted to throw my remote at the wall. Michael is a brilliant lawyer, but he is being incredibly dense. History proves that Abbott security is useless. Remember when Patty Williams literally paraded through those halls in a nurse’s outfit, stabbed Jack, and injected Diane with digitalis ? A locked door means absolutely nothing to a determined maniac.
Why Diane is Marked for Death
Diane has every right to be shaking in her designer boots . She didn’t just escape from Markham’s house of horrors; she utterly humiliated him on her way out. She played him like a cheap fiddle—seducing him, making him think she was falling for his twisted doctor-patient romance, and then poisoning his food with his own sleeping pills ]. You do not humiliate an egomaniacal, controlling, psychotic psychiatrist and expect him to just lick his wounds. Markham is coming back for blood.
The Mind-Blowing Twin Theory: Is Markham Actually Martin Laurent?
Here is where my mind goes, and I am 100% convinced of this theory: Is Dr. Lawrence Markham actually Martin Laurent, the evil twin ?
Diane mentioned to Michael that Tracy Abbott looked into Markham’s eyes and saw something deeply terrifying . Tracy knows that look because she was psychologically tortured by Martin in Paris when he pretended to be his twin brother, Alan. Martin is a literal monster who has kidnapped Sharon, Phyllis, Tracy, and Ashley. If Markham is Martin—perhaps using plastic surgery or a realistic silicone mask—it perfectly explains his burning vendetta against the Abbotts. Plus, the ultimate narcissist move? Markham kept Alan Laurent’s books on his shelves , which Diane explicitly noticed.
To make matters worse, Markham has already been inside the Abbott mansion. Jack invited him in, meaning he knows the layout, the stairs, and all the camera blind spots ]. He is just lurking in the shadows, waiting for Diane to let her guard down.
Dark Confessions and the Looming Threat
While Michael brought good news that Patty Williams’ bail was denied after a psychotic courtroom meltdown , Diane correctly points out that Patty has a history of manipulating the system. After all, Markham was the one who previously gave Patty a clean bill of health to let her walk free.
