As a longtime General Hospital fan, seeing our former Michael Corinthos step into the music industry was a surprise, to say the least. His musical style is completely different from anything I expected, but good for him. We always love seeing GH alumni spread their wings and try new things.
However, hearing his voice sent me down an absolute rabbit hole of speculation. I kept thinking about an unhinged, wild scenario: What if Chad Duell comes back to General Hospital?
Now, before you yell at your screen, hear me out. We already have a Michael Corinthos. The role was recast, the new actor is doing his thing, and the show has moved on. Imagine the sheer audacity of the writers bringing back the face of Michael Corinthos for over a decade, but giving him a brand-new name, backstory, and attitude. We have seen actors return as twins, cousins, or long-lost doppelgängers, but a meta-level recast like this would send the fandom into an absolute frenzy.
To make this theory work, he needs a strong anchor to the canvas. And who better to bring him to town than Sasha? Picture this: Sasha returns to Port Charles with her and Michael’s daughter, baby Daisy. After everything she has been through, Sasha finally finds peace away from town and returns holding hands with her handsome, devoted new boyfriend—played by Chad Duell.
The delicious irony of Sasha moving on from Michael with a man who looks exactly like the original Michael is so profoundly twisted, it’s brilliant television.
Consider current Michael’s state of mind: his ego is fragile, and his need for control is at an all-time high. Even married to Willow, a part of him feels possessive over Sasha. Standing in the Quartermain living room, stressed out, Michael sees his ex-girlfriend radiant and happy with a guy who is charming, successful, and happens to have the exact face Michael used to have.
Michael wouldn’t just be jealous; he would be deeply, fundamentally triggered. He would feel an irrational, burning hatred he couldn’t explain, making ridiculous excuses to Willow like, “I just don’t trust him. There’s something about his face I can’t stand.”
It is messy, dramatic, and leaning into the best kind of soap opera absurdity. Would it be distracting? Maybe. But the entertainment value of Michael Corinthos going out of his mind with jealousy over Chad Duell is simply too good to pass up.
