Days of Our Lives Spoilers: SHOCKING! Sophia Is Still Alive, Mason Whitfield is the one who saved her.
A stunning twist could be waiting in Salem as the mystery surrounding Sophia Choi’s disappearance takes another dramatic turn.
After being presumed dead following her confrontation with Kristen DiMera, Sophia may actually be alive—and a mysterious newcomer, Mason Whitfield, could be the person who saved her.

For months, viewers have wondered whether Sophia truly died after Kristen attacked her and she disappeared into the Salem River. The search was eventually called off, leaving Amy Choi devastated. However, the fact that Sophia’s body was never recovered immediately fueled speculation that she could still be alive.
Now, a new possibility has emerged.
Mason Whitfield recently arrived in Salem as a student at Salem University. His introduction was anything but ordinary. When Holly Jonas introduced herself, Mason immediately changed his attitude after hearing her name. He appeared to recognize “Jonas,” became cold toward Holly and walked away without explaining why.
That strange reaction has led to growing speculation about Mason’s connection to Sophia.
Could he have found Sophia after she survived her encounter with Kristen?
The theory would explain why Mason appears to have such a strong reaction to Holly. Sophia and Holly had a bitter history before Sophia’s disappearance, and Sophia’s mother, Amy, publicly blamed Holly for what happened to her daughter. A person close to Sophia could easily have developed resentment toward Holly after hearing only Sophia’s version of events.
If Mason actually rescued Sophia, he could have been helping her remain hidden.
Perhaps Sophia was badly injured after being thrown into the river but managed to escape. Mason may have discovered her, provided medical assistance and helped her disappear before authorities could find her. If so, Sophia could have spent months secretly recovering while Salem believed she was dead.
That would make Mason’s arrival in town much more significant.
He may not have come to Salem by coincidence. Mason could be there because Sophia asked him to investigate Holly, protect her or prepare the next stage of her revenge.
Holly would be completely unaware of the danger.
She has already experienced enormous emotional turmoil because of Sophia’s actions. If Sophia suddenly returns, Holly could find herself facing accusations, manipulation and possibly another attempt to destroy her reputation.
Mason’s mysterious behavior therefore deserves attention. Current coverage confirms that he is a new Salem University student played by Brandon Butler, but the show has not officially revealed a connection between Mason and Sophia.
That means the idea that Mason rescued Sophia remains speculation rather than confirmed Days of Our Lives canon.
Still, Salem has a long history of characters surviving seemingly impossible situations. Even before Mason arrived, speculation about Sophia being alive was widespread because no body was recovered.
Now, Mason’s strange reaction to Holly adds another intriguing piece to the puzzle.
Could he be the mysterious person who saved Sophia? Is Sophia secretly alive and preparing her next move? And has Mason come to Salem specifically to help her finish what she started?
If that turns out to be true, Holly may soon discover that Sophia’s story was never over—and the person she thought was gone forever could be waiting in the shadows.
