General Hospital officially confirms the actress’s dismissal for this reason!

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that one GH star is taking a break from the show and will be off-screen for a while as a result.

Let’s discuss which actress is taking a hiatus and when you can expect to see her again.

Laura Collins (Genie Francis) has been making all the necessary preparations for her trip to Ireland, where she hopes to have a lovely reunion with Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) and Ace Cassadine (Karis and Kieran Barry).

Since there’s been a lot of talk about Laura’s leave of absence and time away, it’s not surprising that Genie Francis is heading off canvas for a bit.

Francis tends to take an annual summer hiatus, so that’s the reason Laura is exiting temporarily.

Francis’ last appearance for now was in the August 31 episode, so her hiatus has already begun.

It’s always tough to say goodbye when Francis takes breaks like this one, but we certainly support her much-deserved time off!

As for when Francis will reprise the role of Laura, fans can expect her back on-screen later this fall.

It won’t be too long until Laura returns home and resumes her mayoral duties, so that’s good news.

In the meantime, we should mull over Laura’s Ireland trip and how that might affect her storyline moving forward.

GH Head Writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten may have already offered clues about that back in the summer preview interview they gave SOD.

“Laura could use a respite with Kevin and Ace, but her trip to visit them in Ireland may yield trouble for her marriage — and bigger trouble for Port Charles,” Van Etten and Korte teased.

That certainly makes it sound like this trip won’t bring the wonderful reunion that Laura was envisioning with Kevin.

Laura just might come back with news that Kevin wants a divorce, especially if he’s met someone else during their long-distance relationship.

As for the part about trouble in PC, things may fall apart in Laura’s absence!

Laura won’t be around to monitor things as closely as she would like, so she may come home to chaos down the road.

General Hospital spoilers say Genie Francis’ exit will lead to some story shockers since Laura won’t be around until later in the autumn months, so stay tuned.
