Salem Drama Breakdown: August 3–7 Spoilers & Filming News
Welcome back to the channel! Salem is an absolute disaster zone this week, and we need to break down the massive arrivals, departures, and behind-the-scenes bombshells for August 3 to August 7.
Hostage Plots and Tragic Farewells
First up, Dimitri von Leuschner is resurfacing on Friday, August 7th. Peter Porte plays that smug, conniving villain so well, but I’m torn. He’s been off-canvas since April, and now he’s trapped Gwen and Leo in an Alamainian dungeon while clinging to Megan Hathaway’s toxic legacy. Rafe is flying in to save the day, but Dimitri refuses to compromise. Meanwhile, poor Leo keeps throwing himself into dangerous situations because he’s so broken inside. I just want Gwen to catch a break—she’s suffered enough with Xander and the DiMeras without being locked in a foreign prison.
However, the storyline making me want to throw my remote is Lexi Carver’s heartbreaking exit on Wednesday, August 5th. Bringing her back with EJ’s miracle Versavix drug—only for the cure to fail—is pure cruelty. On Monday, August 3rd, Lexi collapses while trying to sneak away. EJ and his henchmen open a shipping container expecting to kidnap Kristen, only to find a dying Lexi instead. Reliving her loss all over again is going to leave us in tears. James Reynolds and Tyler Joseph Andrews will act their hearts out as Abe and Theo, but the Carvers deserve peace, not more trauma.
Family Crisis and Desperate Disguises
Naturally, this tragedy is hitting Paulina hard. Thankfully, Sal Stowers is back as Lani on August 5th to act as the family’s anchor. Between Chanel’s terrifying battle with breast cancer while pregnant and Lexi’s impending death, Paulina is cracking under the weight. Lani’s romantic reprieve with Eli is over, and duty calls.
Over on the DiMera side, EJ’s attempts to act like a mob boss are an embarrassing mess. On Thursday, August 6th, Kristen visits young Rachel (Lauralei Olivia Moat), but she’s running from EJ’s botched kidnapping. Her solution? Dusting off the infamous Susan Banks disguise—complete with fake teeth and a bad wig. Stacy Haiduck is brilliant, but this absurd gag completely undermines the dramatic tension of a mother desperate to see her child.
Massive Returns on the Horizon!
Finally, here is the news saving my sanity: Allison Sweeney (Sami), Christy Clark (Carrie), Chandler Massey (Will), and Bryan Dattilo (Lucas) are currently on set at Burbank Studios filming scenes together! Because of the advanced tape schedule, these episodes won’t air until summer 2027, but knowing they are in the building is everything.
Sami needs to march back into Salem and destroy EJ for ruining Johnny’s life and causing Lexi’s death, with Lucas right by her side—Lumi fans, rise up! Add in Will supporting his family through Chanel’s health crisis and Carrie dealing with Roman and Kate’s imploding marriage, and we are heading toward an epic Brady family summit.
