The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Friday, July 31, reveals that Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) will make a bold declaration and leave Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) ready to strike back.

Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun) and Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) will also have a fierce faceoff, so let’s talk about what’s coming up in Genoa City.

In Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) GCAC suite, she’ll wake up to find Matt gone and fear he left town after all.

Downstairs in the dining area with Victor, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will worry about Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) since he seemed broken when they saw him in rehab this morning.

Nikki will fret since Nick was thrown over the surprise visit, but Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will assure Nikki that it was a relief for Nick to hear her vision-related news.

As for the state of their marriage, Nikki will question Victor about that and wonder if he can admit he was wrong to go after Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) the way that he did.

Victor will grumble about Jack a bit more, but he’ll at least admit he shouldn’t have pushed Nikki away.

In the end, Victor will decide his love for Nikki is stronger than his hatred for Jack, so he’ll tell Nikki that they should go home.

At one point, Phyllis will interrupt Victor and Nikki with vague complaints about Victor’s latest sabotage before heading to a nearby table, where she’ll leave Matt an angry voicemail for ghosting her.

At Crimson Lights, Noah will speak with Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) about his concerns regarding Sienna, who’s letting Matt convince her that he’s capable of change.

Noah will worry that Matt will have to do something horrible again for Sienna to have a wake-up call.

Whether Matt intends to follow through on leaving town or not, Noah will think he needs to make sure it happens.

Sharon will also bring Noah up to speed on Nick’s decision to check himself into a rehab center.

Nick’s drug addiction happened because of injuries related to the wreck Matt caused, so that’ll give Noah another reason to blame him for his family’s problems.

At The Shadow Room, Matt will arrive to apologize for storming out of there the last time he tried to talk to Sienna.

Matt will also seek a favor since he’ll feel like Sienna genuinely believes he’s changed and can perhaps convince the Newmans to extend him some grace.

Sienna won’t think she can sway the Newman clan, but she’ll agree to see what she can do now that Matt’s decided to stay in town.

If Matt is playing her, Sienna will warn that she won’t be so clumsy in her attempt to kill him next time.

Y&R spoilers say Matt will offer reassurance, but then Noah will come blowing in and unleash his fury.

Noah will make it clear that he intends to ensure that Matt leaves Genoa City.

After Matt takes off, Sienna will scold Noah for swooping in like a hero when she was just talking to her ex.

Noah will imply that Sienna is being too gullible, so she’ll take offense and argue that no one manipulates or controls her – including Noah.

Sienna will stomp away from Noah while Matt returns to the athletic club, where Phyllis will be taken aback to see him.

Matt will explain that he stored his bag under the bed to get it out of the way and didn’t want to wake her since she looked like a “hot angel” while sleeping.

Once Nikki and Victor appear, Victor will comment on Matt’s ankle monitor being gone.

Matt will suggest that he needs some space and will push for wiggle room on the terms of his contract.

After Matt announces that he’ll be leaving his room at the ranch to “shack up” with his girl, Phyllis will look amused.

Victor, on the other hand, will be enraged and will tell Matt that they’ll see about that!
